Oh wow... I didn't expect there to be so many comments on how there is already an active translator for TDG. My apologies. I was not aware that there is some sort of translation etiquette. I just like the story and I figured since it is now being translated around ~110, I could provide something like a spoiler for those who would like to jump ahead.
UPDATE 01: I talked to Thyaeria, and he would like to keep TDG as a personal project so there will be no collaboration on TDG.

DeleteThe story starts getting better after 200, and would have made more sense after a few chapters. :) But considering all the extremely negative comments, it is not worth the drama to continue translating on my end.

Due your great I love you no matter what keep on translating we need talent like you. PS limitless sword god is the shizz the releases are slower then watching paint drying it only has 34 chapters but is in 26 place. No one would be upset to see you pumping out a novel to its full potential. Pretty sure it would rank in top 8 if it had a steady translator.

Tales of Demons and Beast is different to me, because I decided to translate it BEFORE I knew I shouldn't have. So a stubborn side of me wants to continue, while a lazy side of me tells me to stop since this whole situation is so drama-filled. lol.
BTW, there is an AFTER-douluo dalu that is amazing too, sadly it's not done yet.
I know, it's Douluo Dalu II isn't it? but since the main character have the ability of fusion tecnique with another male, and the process is they have to hug each other like a couple, I find it weird actually.. >.<

Nobody wants you to stop, the more translators on a project the better. If you had asked thyaeria to cooperate 100% of the comment would have been you are awesome, thank you, Keep up the good work. Translators dont like having their projects poached for good reason, you dedicate countless hours to a project and somebody just comes and poaches. It is not an issue of ownership it is an issue of courtesy, why bother translating a novel you are passionate about if halfway someone is going to come and poach it. Poaching makes translators not want to translate which is bad for fans. If you really like the novel offer to cooperate with thyaeria.

I'm not gonna read those releases, cause I don't want spoilers, but I'm glad that there is one more translator in this world.
Hateful comments either come from a**holes or from people who just didn't get what you where trying to do (maybe you could have been clearer on that from the start). I apologize in their stead, and let me assure you that the majority of us deeply appreciate that you're willing to translate for others while you most likely have the skills to read the Chinese version on your own.
If you decide to keep going, there's no reason why thyaeria wouldn't agree to use your stuff when he catches up and i'll read it at that point.
If you decide to work with him, i'll be overjoyed to have more frequent releases.
If you decide to translate something else, i'll gladly read it.

Honestly I think the main reason why people got made is because they all like the previous translator who has really been working hard on it. And they feel like your stealing cause you didn't talk to the person who started translating it.

I say if you want to keep translating it translate it. Who cares what other people say. I mean people will always complain about things. They don't have to read what you translate if they don't want to. I'm sure there are people who would like to read what you translate.
While I am reading the other guys translation currently since I want to start at the beginning I shall still say this. Thank you for translating. I myself can't read or translate thus every translator out there that translate and provides it to the public I am thankful for. Because it allows me to read many new interesting stories that otherwise would be unavailable.
So do what ever you want and the haters will eventually go away leaving just the fans who like your work.
Side note; wouldn't hurt to Thyaeria a bit if you are translating the series. Common curtesy and all that. If I'm right he is currently moving from his own webserver over to wuxiaworld.

Whether its this guy or anyone else poaching any project people will cheer because there are more chapters to read regardless of who is translating them. 2. This guy is new to translating, instead of being an a*s and driving a person away from translating wouldn't it be better to just simply point out his mistake? This way the community gains a new translator to translate work that we can all enjoy and read?
You are speaking like if you were talking about a child, "point out his mistake" like if he was a kid that touched a hot stove not knowing he would get burned. For whatever reason this new translator decided to work on tales of demons and gods he knew there was a current translator there is no mistake here, his actions were deliberate and thought out. It is not illegal and he has every right to translate whatever he wants, but translators have their own etiquette and completely ignoring the current translator is rude. Look up what happened with Stellar Transformation or even more recently Against the Gods. Poaching discourages translators from translating, this guy knew there was a translator and went ahead anyway, thats not a mistake thats an informed choice.

I did not know the history of Stellar Transformations or Against the Gods, and have only recently looked them up. I get it now why people got so worked up. So excuse my initial ignorance, I didn't know there were so many rules, I just did what I liked. I did make a choice to translate starting chapter 200 so as to not coincide with the main translations, but I honestly did not know it was such a taboo thing to do and would be considered poaching. At least now I know, lesson learnt.

DeleteDon't think anyone was really offended due to you putting out chapters there are many light novels with more then one team working on them and no one says shizz. I think the back lash is mainly due to A the fact youre so far ahead from where everyone is currently reading that they can't follow the story. B they got blue ballzed when they saw a new release on novel updates and jumped the gun to read it thinking it was a continuation from were they were currently at. That being said the smart guys know to give face to a raising translator for those cultivators are the feature of us addicts especially the one that do would job at it. I like how the crafty guys suggested you work with the other guy this would be a great since he tends to get swamped down with ques so it would give him a chance to share the work load and allow you guys to fight for the number one title of light novels who knows you might even be able to got against the gods and go up against ATG. That being said i would personally be stoked if you looked into limitless sword god the novel is so damn good but only has extremely slow chapter releases it should be ranked in the top 10 in my opinion but is stuck at the bottleneck due to it's extremely low level of cultivating new updates if you were to jump on that one and release it to its full potential by putting on my releases per week then just one like every couple of weeks I think you would have nothing but positive feed back. Just the thoughts of a Radom Leacher that donates a lot ��

And that your looking at mount Tai but didn't have eyes to see! He is good at what he does and will be a benefit for all us addicts that can't read other labguages. ReplyDeleteYeah Ze Tian Ji might be good start. You might want to read it first to know if its your cup of tea (the char. Development is soon fuken gooood. Also slow moving plot). If Nei Li is All-knowing strong char, then Chen Chang Shang is a Wise but weak MC.

I think it's awesome that Thyaeria has put time into doing that project, BUT he is not entitled to it. Another translator can come along and translate no problem in my opinion, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE NEW TRANSLATOR IS A BETTER TRANSLATOR. Star's Wish has a better working knowledge of the English language. Her translations are better written and make more sense. I welcome her addition to the translating community and especially to Tales of Demons and Gods. @Star's Wish - please continue to translate this novel. I love that your motivations aren't financially based and your English is so much better. From the vote button you placed on your page, you can see that 82% of people agree that you should continue translating and a mere 30 people disagree. For what people donate to Thyaeria, you would think he'd be producing grammatically correct translations that also make sense in English. It's unfortunate that this isn't the case.. Often times, I have to rework the English that Thyaeria uses just to make sense of wtf is going on. Maybe your addition to the translating community will motivate Thyaeria to improve the quality of his translations? DeleteThere was this story that I liked, but the guy was the CEO, not the girl I think? It was in comic form and I liked it so I finished the book. It started of with a masquerade party where she dressed as a cat. Let's see if I can find it.

DeleteThis conversation about helping on other novels reminds me of "A mistaken marriage match", Inno (the translator) put her blog on hiatus for personal issues, so even though the two "A mistaken marriage match" novels are rather short, she won't complete the translation for a while... sadly. It would be a dream come true if Inno allowed someone else to finish the translation!
